Some of the things I love most about Livingston are the great school system (which offers a Gifted/Talent Program from elementary through Middle school), the easy commute to NY city (only 45min to Manhattan), and that we have the Livingston Mall and Short Hill Mall so near by.
There are so many great places to eat nearby, whether you’re in the mood for Chinese, Italian, Japanese, Greek or just about any other cuisine, this area has it all. We love to eat at the LongHorn Steakhouse nearby in Parsippany and the Ritz Diner in Livingston, which is just a mile from our home. My son’s favorite Restaurants are all in the Short Hills Mall.
When we bought the property we were drawn to its proximity to Collins Elementary School. Our home is in the center of Northfield Ct, on a large lot and has the best view on Northfield Ct. The home was originally built by a builder for himself to live in, so the construction is excellent. The property is so large, you could easily add a swimming pool, a tennis court, or a three car garage. Our home is located on a dead-end street, so the kids can ride their bicycles and it feels very quiet, safe and relaxing. Also, the house number is 8 which means luck and fortune to Chinese people.
Our home is just a 1 minute walk to the 77 NY Bus to Port Authority of Manhattan so we haven’t had to worry about parking a car and fee issues. And the house is also just a quick 1 minute walk to the school bus stop. We’re only a 3 minute drive to the famous St. Banaba Hospital and a 1 block walk to our private family doctors care building, walking distance to ShopRite 9, and just 2 miles to the Millburn train station, restaurants, bars and Paper Mill Playhouse.
The Livingston area is good for professional young couples with kids and successful adults. A few other things I can mention are that the people who live in this town are very well educated, the kids are very nice to each other. You can always found your child’s missing toy, game, cellphone or jacket in the school’s LOST-AND-FOUND box. The other kids actually return lost items rather than stealing them.
The Livingston area offers many wonderful places to go, like the YMCA, the JCC, the Livingston Library, and Livingston High School for walk or a jog. Some of our hobbies are: going to the Turtle Back Zoo, the West Orange Recreation Park for a walk, and eating at McLoone’s Boathouse. We like shopping at the Rt.10 Shopping Center, which has stores and restaurants like: Home Depot, Costco, Pier1 Import, TJ Fridays, Olive Garden, Chili’s, Apple Bee, Kam Man Market, Toy’s R Us, & Baby’s R Us.
Our utility costs are very low, about $250/month.
