A question I often hear from prospective homeowners is, “Should I stage my home?”

The truth is that most homes require some level of staging. Let me give you some pointers and examples to consider how much you should invest in staging.

Decluttering a home is a form of staging. If you have excess furniture in one room, it might be a good idea to put it in storage for the time being. It will help the home look bigger.

“Unfurnished rooms present an opportunity.”

Another important point of staging is to define room use. If you have a vacant room that you’re using for storage but it’s actually a bedroom, it makes sense to clear out the room and stage it as a bedroom for homebuyers.

For unfurnished rooms, like a family room, consider staging it like a true den. You can see an example of one of these at 1:35 in the video above. The room looks gorgeous with just a few touches. A fresh coat of neutral-colored paint with accessories that add color is the way to go.

The bottom line is that the more show-ready a home is, the more money you’ll get from buyers at the end of the day.
